Peter's faith helps him to recognise who Jesus truly is. In response, Jesus doesn't give him a job, but calls him to a vocation. Do I consider my work and my life to be a vocation that helps to build God's reign on earth? #Sunday #Gospel Please pray for the children who participated in the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time last night, that they may experience the love, mercy and forgiveness of God throughout their lives. Although Jesus was sent first to the people of the covenant, the Canaanite woman shows that God's love and mercy is for all. Do I, like the Canaanite woman, respond to God's love and mercy with faith? #Sunday #Gospel This Saturday, 15 August, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, acknowledging the belief that Mary was taken to heaven at the end of her earthly life, body and soul. It is observed as a holy day of obligation. Through the storm and the walking on water, the disciples are full of fear, yet Jesus is with them in their fear. Does my faith give me strength to remain steady when I am afraid or worried? #Sunday #Gospel "Never see a need without doing something about it." The disciples thought that sending the crowd off to get food made sense. Jesus shows them that responding to someone's need is not a task to be delegated. Do I, as St Mary MacKillop said, "never see a need without doing something about it"? #Sunday #Gospel In finance, people talk about "return on investment". Jesus reminds us that whatever the cost of our faith, the "return on investment" is beyond measure. Do I truly see my faith as such a treasure? #Sunday #Gospel May the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. We hope we may follow in the footsteps of Mary, Mother of Carmel, so that God’s will may be made possible in our own lives. Happy Feast Day! Despite our efforts to proclaim the Gospel, the gift of free will given to each person means it may not be accepted. Yet the same is true for us. Do I allow the word of God to grow in my own heart? #Sunday #Gospel As we approach the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we invite you to join us in prayer.
